Hakka is a Japanese species of mint that grows wildly. The main component of hakka is menthol.  It contains more menthol with stronger refreshing sansation than western Peppermint. Traditionally in Japan, Hakka has been used in snacks such as chewing gums and cookies, but its pain-killing, antibacterial and antipyretic properties mean that it was mainly used for medicinal purposes such as cool gel patches, stomach medicine, eye drops and ointments.  Hakka leaves
